Sat 16th March 2.15pm: Desexing Complications: Strategies for Resilience and Prevention

This presentation extends beyond the scope of new graduate veterinarians, as evidenced by retrospective studies revealing that specific complications are more prevalent among seasoned practitioners. Desexing complications, despite occurring in approximately 20% of cases, can be emotionally challenging. This challenge is exacerbated by the misconception among pet owners that these procedures are routine and should transpire seamlessly.

This talk aims not only to discuss potential complications but also to provide insights into their prevention, diagnosis, and, most crucially, how to rebound from setbacks. By exploring avoidance strategies, diagnostic approaches, and highlighting four essential elements for recovery, I aim to equip veterinary professionals with a comprehensive understanding of managing complications, fostering resilience, and improving overall patient care. Can't wait to see you there!

Sat 16th March 3.30pm : Medial Patella Luxation in Cats: Unravelling Feline Specifics

Contrary to the notion that cats are just small dogs, in regards to Medial Patella Luxation (MPL), once again felines present their own distinctive challenges. This presentation delves into the idiosyncrasies surrounding the diagnosis, decision-making regarding treatment, and potential surgical complications related to cat MPLs. For those vets involved in the diagnosis or treatment of cats with MPL, this talk offers valuable insights. Additionally, tips from an interview with Dr. Gareth Arthurs, an RCVS orthopaedic specialist who pioneered the Partial Parasagittal Patellectomy for cat MPL, are shared in this talk. Can't wait to see you there!
